Cengage Group - Cengage confused, poorly organized, students suffer.
I signed up with Cengage to take Real Estate Courses. I did so because I live in Terrell and there are not any schools nearby. My mother-in-law did the classes, I took the online. She took ten hour classes a day, was done very quickly. So far, moving rather quickly, I have been timed at over DOUBLE the hours required to get my license. 210 hours required, I am at over 500 hrs. Every course chapter inside each section, has to be done TWICE. It is a horribly slow process and some of the sections are not laid out with a good flow. Anyway, so I signed up for these courses right after another 30 required hours was added, so they said I had to do one entire section twice (with each chapter inside the chapter, twice as usual) Okay, fine. So I FINALLY FINALLY finish because I already have people ready to buy from me as an agent, and they (cengage)call me, say that I had the wrong course and I need another 30 hour course, which in reality is actually 60-75 hours. Firstly, I was VERY angry, I informed them that I called twice and clarified this double course and they said it was right, now it is not. So I have a good sale, 13K commission I WANT at the beginning of April and I am not going to get done in time,
FINALLY. So I try to get on and finish some of these courses...(ugh by this point) and now showcase launcher has been upgraded. Great. So I am informed to uninstall the program and install the new one. Done. Still I am getting errors. It will not work, left a message, AGAIN, waiting for a call back.. again.
I REALLY want my money back. I want a check sent to me in the mail for their mistake, adding another 30 hours is unacceptable, but as I was informed, I have no choice as it is a required course now. ... Really? Stay away, stay FAR FAR away. (This was a waste of 5-6 months of my life, seriously.)
If you want to do real estate, just go to the classes, find some, drive. You will be done so QUICKLY. 3 months max with weekends ONLY. Not five months and 500+ hours later.
800-ish lost, paid up front in one lump sum.
Monetary Loss: $800.
Location: Terrell, Texas

The *** are going bankrupt, and leaving their creditors at the door. Can you imagine if you wrote a textbook for them trying to get paid for 5 years of work?
The people are incompetent, management are *** running the company into the ground. Meanwhile paying themselves quite handsomely.
Yeah they are pieces of ***. :eek
